DER PAVILION: St. Moritz
Mitterrand is pleased to participate in Der Pavilion, the new cultural initiative founded in St. Moritz by Giorgio Pace. Conceived as an extended-format exhibition platform, Der Pavilion brings together leading galleries and collectible design in a setting that encourages dialogue between art, design, and architecture beyond the traditional fair model.
On this occasion, the gallery presents Âne Planté by François-Xavier Lalanne. A central figure in Lalanne’s bestiary since the 1970s, the donkey embodies the artist’s distinctive dialogue between sculpture and function. In this version, the animal’s saddlebags are conceived as planters, extending Lalanne’s playful yet rigorous exploration of decorative arts traditions — notably echoing the historic Âne de Pompadour (1973) and his celebrated Rhinocrétaire.
